Featured Seller - DKRScrapNCraft
What part of the world are you in?
Arkansas, USA
What does customer service mean to you?
I like communication between the customer and seller before, during, and after a transaction. It's not something I try to do, it is something I want to do! I like making friends on Etsy and I attempt so with all customers and sellers!
What is your most memorable experience with a customer?
My very first sale on Etsy! It was a custom order for painted paper mache letters for the customer's daughter. It was very exciting to see that someone had an interest in my work!! I had waited a while on that first sale and it felt very good!!
What sets you apart from other sellers who are selling similar items?
I love to look at other shops that sell scrapbooking items and greeting cards. I don't like to compare our work, but I realize that they love to do their craft as I love to do mine and it is fun to see all of the wonderful and unique ideas that other artists create!
How did you learn the skills that make you successful today?
I really just started scrapbooking and making cards a few years ago, and I have progressively gotten more experienced and more talented with time! I love it!
Do you have any formal training in your craft?
No, just time sitting at my desk!
What is your goal for the next year?
I would love to establish a good client base for my items. I am not going to set a specific goal because I am not sure where the economy is headed and success to me, is doing well for the moment you are in!
What keeps you motivated when sales are slow?
I guess I just think about how I have really been trying to build a successful business and how much I just don't want to give up on it!
What do you do to attract new clients and encourage re-occurring business?
I chat on the forums on Etsy, post items and discounts. I have joined several BNR and BNS threads as well to promote my business.
If you could share one piece of advice with someone who is considering opening
their own store of handmade items, what would it be?
If this is something you really want to do, just keep at it no matter how the sales are!
Thanks DKRScrapNCraft! Best of luck in 2009!
